Home Dumb bell Circuit Work Out

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

“> I made this video for my client Mark but it certainly will suit anyone looking to add variety or start a home/fitness center Dumb bell routine. Having been a NYC personal Trainer for the past 8 years I’ve certainly trained a wide range of age groups. My oldest client at the moment is 76 and my youngest at the moment is Mark who’s 24 (or 23, he just had a birthday, sorry Mark). Mark asked me to show him some things to do at home with some new dumb bells he got for his birthday, so here’s a couple of things you can do. Doing something like this for a client is always exciting for me because they’re motivated to train on their own and through this training they begin the process of discovering their bodies and what works for them. I admire Mark for his determination and motivation, he constantly inspires me to push harder, but at the same time to be more patient with myself and my own process. There’s been more than a few times that he’s had to excuse himself from the training floor to physically re-group after an exhausting circuit but he keeps coming back. Mark, keep coming and keep training on your own and you will attain your goal

The Gravity Training System

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

After yesterdays yoga with instructor Kim Albano (who you can contact for private instruction at kalbano@nyc.rr.com) I was feeling refreshed and inspired. I’ve been training on the GTS, created by EFI sports medicine for the last 4 years, I use this machine exclusively at the NYPT studios in chelsea. Todays workout combined gravity jumps (throwing a medicine ball while doing jump squats)

Dead lifts while standing on the angled gravity platform

leg presses combined with crunches that really targets your core.

These are just a few of the movements I’ve created to burn calories and build lean muscle. Come on down to the NYC Strength Training studio and I’ll show you how.

incorporate yoga into your routine

Monday, July 21st, 2008

Today I was fortunate enough to have an expert yoga instructor take me through about 25 minutes of yoga. I find that yoga is a great adjunct to strength training as it keeps those burgeoning muscles long and lean. There are many great instructors out there, there can teach you proper form and technique.
a more economical approach would be to select a few DVD’s to see what’s right for you.

It’s hot - go light.

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

When it gets hot, like it has been I feel naturally inclined to lift lighter, so i do. It’s hot today in NYC, about 95 and really sunny. It’s pretty hot in the gym too, so I’m gonna lift light weights and keep my reps high. Today I trained my legs and chest using bi - sets
1. leg press/push ups
2. leg curl/bench press
3. cable fly/seated calf
4. life fitness chest press/leg extension
5. 3 min. on the UBE (upper bdy ergometer)
6. life fitness preacher curls/ military style push ups

Every thing was about 15 - 20 reps, maybe 15 - 30 sec rest when needed.
